School Scout AI Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of School Scout AI, an AI-powered assistant made available by School Scout Ltd (“School Scout”, “we”, “us”, “our”, or “the Platform”). By using School Scout AI, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms, as well as the:

If you do not agree with these terms, you must not use School Scout AI.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or interacting with School Scout AI, you:

• Agree to be bound by these School Scout AI Terms of Use;
• Confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, or have appropriate supervision and authority to use the service;
• Understand that School Scout AI is provided for informational and non-commercial use only.

2. AI Functionality and Disclaimer

School Scout AI generates responses using large language models and machine learning technologies. The content provided is:

• Automatically generated and may contain errors, incomplete information, or outdated content;
• Designed to provide general guidance only, not specific advice or endorsements;
• Not a substitute for professional consultation or direct communication with schools.

You must not rely solely on School Scout AI for making educational, legal, financial, admissions, or personal decisions. All critical information must be verified independently with the relevant school or official source.

School Scout Ltd does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any AI-generated content. We disclaim all liability for actions taken or decisions made in reliance on AI responses.

3. Intellectual Property

• The School Scout AI model, interface, underlying codebase, prompts, and outputs are the intellectual property of School Scout Ltd, unless otherwise stated;
• All rights are reserved;
• Users may not reproduce, redistribute, republish, or commercially exploit any portion of School Scout AI content without prior written consent;
• Use of School Scout AI is granted as a limited, non-transferable, revocable licence for personal research purposes only.

4. Permitted Use

You agree to use School Scout AI in a respectful, lawful, and responsible manner. You must not:

• Use School Scout AI to generate or disseminate content that is unlawful, discriminatory, harmful, offensive, abusive, misleading, or defamatory;
• Use School Scout AI in any manner that could disrupt the Platform or compromise its integrity;
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, manipulate, or interfere with School Scout AI’s functionality or backend systems;
• Use AI outputs for automated decision-making that affects others without oversight or consent.

School Scout reserves the right to monitor usage and suspend or terminate access for any breach of these Terms or associated policies.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of the content (prompts, questions, inputs) you submit to School Scout AI. However, by using the service, you grant School Scout Ltd a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to:

• Store and analyse your inputs for the purposes of improving AI functionality and platform services;
• Perform moderation, auditing, and safety checks;
• Aggregate and anonymise data for analytical reporting, internal research, or to generate insights for School Partners.

You warrant that your inputs do not infringe any third-party rights, and you remain solely responsible for the legality and integrity of your submissions.

6. Data Protection & Privacy

School Scout AI usage is subject to the School Scout Privacy Policy and Children’s Data Policy, which are incorporated by reference.

In particular:

• School Scout AI chat interactions may be stored securely for up to 12 months for performance, safety, and quality improvement purposes;
• School Scout AI conversations may be reviewed by human moderators in anonymised or pseudonymised form;
• Aggregate, anonymised usage data may be shared with School Partners for market insight and service improvement, but no personally identifiable information (PII) will be disclosed without your explicit consent.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• School Scout Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use of School Scout AI;
• You use School Scout AI entirely at your own risk, and you are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy and appropriateness of outputs;
• School Scout Ltd’s total liability to any user in connection with these Terms shall not exceed £100.

This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from our negligence or any other liability that cannot be legally excluded.

8. Termination and Suspension

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to

• Suspend, restrict, or terminate access to School Scout AI at any time without prior notice if we believe you have breached these Terms or misused the service;
• Block or remove prompts and outputs that violate our content policies or legal obligations.

Termination of access does not affect any of our accrued rights or obligations under these Terms.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update or amend these School Scout AI Terms of Use from time to time to reflect changes in law, technology, or service functionality. When material changes occur, we will notify users via email or website notice. Continued use of School Scout AI after such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
