Belmont is a smartphone-free school, promoting focus, positive social interaction and digital wellbeing. Pupils in Years 6-8 may only bring a mobile phone if they travel independently to and from school, and in these cases only a basic or ‘light’ phone is permitted. Smartphones require prior approval from the Head in exceptional circumstances, such as medical needs. Smartwatches, fitness trackers with messaging functions and internet-enabled e-readers are not allowed. All approved phones must be labelled, handed to Form Tutors on arrival and stored securely throughout the day.
