Scholarships and bursaries

Scholarships

Scholarships are offered to pupils entering Years 9 and 12.They are awarded in recognition of outstanding achievement or promise in a particular sphere. The primary benefit for our Scholars is the additional support, extension and challenge that the Scholarship programme provides.

Bursaries

As a charitable foundation, it is embedded within Mill Hill School’s ethos to provide bursary support to deserving young people. Bursaries ensure that a child’s potential, not their background, determines their trajectory. In 1807, our founders intended a Mill Hill School education to be accessible to pupils irrespective of background, and this commitment remains just as strong today. At present, the School forgoes circa £1 million annually on bursary support. In addition, a significant amount is funded through either endowed gifts or long-term commitments from Old Millhillians, parents, and supporters of the School. Approximately 45 pupils attend Mill Hill School each year with bursary support. Bursary support is available to families with limited incomes and limited assets. The School also makes provision for the award of hardship bursaries to assist families who experience sudden and unexpected hardship. We are keen to encourage young people for whom a Mill Hill School education will be a transformative experience to apply.
