About Port Regis Preparatory School

Founded in 1881, Port Regis School is among the most established, all round Day and Boarding Prep Schools in the UK. With British Royal Family members among its alumni, it is steeped in history and yet remains a community that is, at its core, forward thinking and innovative in its approach to educating young children. Few other prep schools can provide the breadth of experience on offer at Port Regis. It is renowned for its exceptional staff and academic credentials, as well as its first-class facilities set within 150 acres of stunning grounds in rural Dorset. These facilities (that eclipse many at senior schools) enable Port Regis to deliver an outstanding holistic education that inspires the head, the hand and the heart. Ranked among the Top 3 UK Boarding Prep Schools in 2026 by The Week, and reviewed recently as 'One of the Great Prep Schools', Port Regis stands out as a true leader in its field, with 94 scholarships to senior schools achieved by our talented Port Regis Year 8 leavers in the past 3 years to over 20 different top UK Boarding and Day Senior Schools, the most popular recently being Eton, Harrow, Winchester, Bryanston, Canford, Marlborough, King's Bruton and the Sherborne Schools. All this is achieved within a caring, supportive and nurturing prep where joyful schooldays and an unhurried childhood are celebrated and championed. It is entirely fitting Port Regis has a compelling motto: ‘We seek higher things.’ Our passion is to help pupils hone an array of qualities – generosity and endeavour, courage and creativity, good manners and friendship. These things underpin a Port Regis education. These things propel Portregians far in life.

Military families in receipt of CEA pay just 10% of fees. CEA can be complex, but what you pay isn’t. Port Regis has one of the most generous Armed Forces schemes of any Prep School. We offer a fixed and transparent fee to military parents who are in receipt of CEA, who will only ever pay 10% of fees (the full boarding rate), with the school providing a bursary for any shortfall in CEA contribution.
