Scholarships and bursaries

Scholarships

Each year, 12 academic King’s Scholarships are offered at 13+ and 16+ entry. 13+ candidates sit an examination known as ‘The Challenge’; 16+ selection is based on overall performance in Entrance Exam papers and interviews. The fee for King’s Scholars is set at the day fee for the academic year, and covers boarding, which is a requisite for a King’s Scholar. The School also offers Music Scholarships. The value of any scholarship may be supplemented by a bursary up to a maximum of 100% if there is proven financial need.

Bursaries

The School has a programme of bursary support that provides funding of approximately £2m each year to pupils at both Westminster Under School and Westminster School. This allows pupils of exceptional talent and promise to benefit from a high-quality education regardless of their background or family’s financial position. Means-tested bursaries of up to 100% of day fees are available for day places and are awarded to pupils according to individual needs at the 11+, 13+ and 16+ entry points.
